Japan’s Grant Assistance for the Project for Enhancement of Utilization of Books at Primary Schools


The Government of Japan decided to provide “the Action with Lao Children” (ALC), a Japanese NGO with grant assistance worth 100,693 US dollars under the Grant Assistance Scheme for Japanese NGOs’ Projects. ALC will implement the project for enhancement of utilization of books at primary schools.

The Grant Contract of the above-mentioned project was signed on September 10, 2009 at the Embassy of Japan in the Lao PDR between H.E. Mr. Masaaki MIYASITA, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR, and Mr. Tooru MORI, representative of ALC.

Japan’s Grant Assistance for the Project for Humanitarian Unexploded Ordinance (UXO) Clearance in Pek and Other Seven Districts, Lao PDR


The objective of this project is to establish and promote reading activities among pupils in 73 primary schools in Vientiane Capital, Vientiane, Sayabouly, Luangphrabang, Luangnamtha and Borikamxai Provinces, thereby contributing to the improvement of the quality of education in Lao primary schools.

Under this project, ALC will hold seminars for teachers of these schools on how to utilize books of school libraries in their classes. In addition, ALC will visit these schools and give advices on ideal library services. Furtheremore, ALC will provide necessary books to these schools.
