“Exchange for Monozukuri (Manufacturing) and Science & Technology”
Application Guideline

1. Overview
JENESYS2019 is a people-to-people exchange program between Japan and the Asia-Pacific Region founded by the Government of Japan. It aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and the Asia-Pacific Region, and to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation.
The “Exchange for Monozukuri (Manufacturing) and Science & Technology” is a program that focuses on introducing cutting-edge manufacturing technology currently used in Japan. As well as visiting facilities related to emerging Japanese technologies and innovation, participants will also have the opportunity to experience traditional craftwork.
 
2. Program Contents
            Period of stay in Japan: 23 - 31 March 2020
            Visiting Area: Tokyo, Aichi and Gifu Prefecture
            Participants: 24 students from the Lao PDR
 
3. Qualifications for Participants
  • Nationality: Applicants must be Lao nationals.
  • Age: Applicants must be under 35 years old as of the program date.
  • Academic Background: Applicants must be university or graduate school students, with a major field of study in architecture, engineering, environmental sciences, agriculture or science.  
  • Health: Applicants must be in good health.
  • Applicants who have already been to Japan are not qualified.
 
4. How to Apply
Applications should be made in groups of 3 students. Each group should prepare a presentation on “What are the advantages and weak points of manufacturing in the Lao PDR? How can manufacturing in the Lao PDR be innovated?” Then, submit the following documents to the External Relations Department, Ministry of Education and Sports (in front of the Hor Pha Keo Temple) by 16:00 on 5 February 2020 (Wednesday).
 
  • Completed Entry Form
  • Copy of certificate of university attendance or student card for each member of the group applying
  • Summary of your group’s presentation (not more than 250 words) in English (Groups who pass the preliminary screening will be required to give a 4-minute presentation on paper and/or Power Point, and to join discussions at a final examination. The presentation and discussion will be in Lao).
 
Notes: Students who live in local provinces can send the documents by E-mail to one of the representatives of MOES stated below.
 
5. Selection of Participants
  • Selection of groups will be made by a selection committee comprised of representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Embassy of Japan in the Lao PDR.
  • Groups shortlisted will be notified by the selection committee, and invited to attend a final examination, where they will give their 4-minute presentation as stated above. (Note: The examination and interview will be held on weekdays. Applicants should request permission to be absent from their university if needed.)
