Application Guideline

Japanese government will invite 10 Lao students majoring in business administration to participate in the Business Exchange in the framework of the JENESYS, which is a people-to-people exchange program between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. 

The main objectives of this program are to deepen knowledge of Japanese-style management methods, promote people-to-people exchanges and friendship between Japan and the Lao PDR, and develop bridge between the two countries in the business world.

2 of the 10 students will be nominated by the students participated in the online program on related theme and the remaining 8 students will be selected by application screening.
 
1. Program Overview
Date: January 16 to 23, 2024
Place: Tokyo, Other local area
Number of Participants: 10 Vocational school students, Undergraduate and Graduate students from Lao PDR majoring in business administration
Language: Lao
Contents:
(1) Lectures on Japanese politics, economy, society, history, culture, foreign policy, etc., related to the program theme or specific area.
(2) Site visits to educational and research institutions related to the program theme or specific area, cutting-edge technology, traditional industries, exhibitions, cultural heritage, and local governments, etc. 
(3) Visits to various parts of Japan according to program theme and specific area, including homestays and hands-on events such as traditional arts and culture.
(4) Dissemination of information on what participants learned in the program and the attractions of Japan, during / after the program through reporting session (face-to-face events) and Social Networking Services (online). 
*Pre-Exchange Program (Prior to coming to Japan) will be conducted online on January 9, 2024.
Terms and Conditions:
The following expenses are covered by the program.
(1) Round trip international air ticked to/from Japan
(2) Overseas travel insurance
(3) Accommodation, transportation and meals during the program in Japan
(4) Admission fees for scheduled activities in Japan
** Participants shall pay their personal expenses including passport, domestic travel cost, and purchase of souvenirs/personal goods before or during the program. 
 
2. Qualifications for Participations
(1) Applicants must be graduate, undergraduate or vocational school students majoring in business administration as of the program date.
(2) Applicants must be 18 to 35 years old as of the program date.
(3) Those who have been to Japan are, in principle, not eligible.
(4) Applicants must be in good health.
(5) Applicants must have sufficient internet connection to have access to the online pre-exchange program by using own mobile phone and PC.
(6) Applicants must commit to sharing and disseminating their experiences of the program and information on Japan through Social Network Services (SNS), etc.
(7) Applicants must possess a passport by November 30, 2023.
(8) Those who have participated in the JENESYS online program are given priority.
 
3. How to Apply
Applicants should submit(1)Entry Form and (2)Proposal for your own business plan (in English or Lao, one sheet of A4 paper)  to the International Relations and Cooperation Division, Cabinet Office, Lao Youth Union (Mon to Fri, 08:30-11:30 and 13:30-16:30) by 16:00 on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Applicants who live in provinces outside Vientiane Capital may submit via whatsApp (Contacts are as follows).
 
4. Selection of Participants
Selection of participants will be conducted by a selection committee comprising representatives of the Lao Youth Union and the Embassy of Japan in the Lao PDR. 
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to give a presentation (within 5 minutes) at the interview with the committee on the end of November.
